About Me
Hi, I'm Sarah Schaefer, and welcome to Bellatopia. I'm the head baker here and I can't wait to tell you my story.
My husband Danny and I live in Apex, NC with our three beautiful daughters, Myka, Megan, and Alison.
I earned my culinary degree from Wake Technical Community College in 2006 with an emphasis in baking.
After graduating with my degree I worked at a local bakery in Apex, NC where I studied under a former Disney World baker. This helped me to hone my craft and was the inspiration for how I approach baking. I spent 3 years there and it is the foundation for what I do today.
I then began my next career at The Fresh Market in Cary, NC and Hilton Head, SC. While working in Hilton Head, where my husband was stationed with the United States Marine Corps, I became the bakery manager. I was extremely proud of what my team and I accomplished because I led them to being the number two bakery department in the United States.
Once I had my first child, we moved from South Carolina back to the Apex area in 2012. I decided to be a stay-at-home mom for the last 10 years raising my three girls. Now that they are all in school, my passion for baking was reignited and I decided to open Bellatopia in 2021.
